Exciting
Things Happening
in My Class This
Year:
Sixth grade is
an exciting
year! Many new
academic skills
are learned as
well as study
skills and work
habits that are
needed for
middle school.
Our most
important class
of the day is
Bible. During
Bible class, we
take an in depth
look at the New
Testament and
see the
practical ways
that it applies
to our lives
today. We then
take what we
have learned and
encourage one
another to put
these lessons
into practice.
Sixth grade math
involves a lot
of fractions and
decimals. The
students enjoy
practicing these
skills by
finding
practical,
everyday
examples in
which they need
to use the
skills they are
learning.
During Language
Arts, the
students
practice writing
in different
forms, such as
personal
narratives and
newspaper
articles. We
also read from
our anthology,
as well as three
extra novels
throughout the
course of the
year. Each
sixth grader
also has the
opportunity to
compete in the
ACSI spelling
bee.
Science is an
exciting class
as we cover a
wide variety of
topics from
earthquakes to
genetics. Many
fun and
interesting
experiments
accompany these
lessons.
In Social
Studies, we
study the
western world,
both its history
and geography.
A highlight of
social studies
is a class
geography bee in
the spring. |
