Our high school classes spend ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade organizing and fundraising for a mission trip to take the summer before their senior year. The location and project/organization are chosen by the class, and provide an opportunity for the seniors to go out into a community to practice all that they have been learning through their time at CCCS.
Recent trips have included Nashville, Tennessee; Fort Blackmore, Virginia; New York City; New Monmouth, New Jersey; Portland, Maine; Raleigh, North Carolina; and San Diego, California. Classes have served through homeless ministries, VBS and after-school kids programs, painting and cleaning projects, and hurricane disaster relief.
In May, the seventh grade class traveled to the Gate House homeless shelter in Danville. They presented the staff with the donations that were sent in and collected during the Night at the Museum event. The students then helped with various cleaning and painting projects around the shelter.
